Become a CASA Volunteer
CASA of Larimer County has one of the largest ongoing volunteer needs in our community. With almost 200 active volunteers in our programs, we still need at least 60 new volunteers by the end of the year to meet the need. When a child has faced abuse and neglect, having a caring, stable adult in their life can make a substantial difference. That’s where you come in. A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA Volunteer) is a trained community volunteer who advocates for children with open dependency or neglect court cases, inside and outside of a courtroom setting.
All volunteers must be 21 and over and must pass a background check. You don't need any specific background or education to become a CASA Volunteer. We welcome people of all backgrounds, professions, and lived experiences to apply. We provide all training and continuous support throughout your case. Make a positive impact on a child in your community and become a volunteer today!
How to Volunteer
Attend CASA 101
CASA 101 is your invitation to learn what it means to stand alongside a child when it matters most. By the end of the session, you’ll have a clear understanding of the volunteer role, the training and support you’ll receive, the community you’ll join, and the meaningful impact you can have for children—giving you the information you need to take the next step with confidence.
Can't make it to any available dates? Contact Jessi Olson at jessi@casalarimer.com or 970-377-9445 to schedule a 1-on-1 info session!

Interview
After your application is received and you have attended an info session, we'll reach out to begin the interview process with our CASA Case Supervisors.
Begin training
Begin training as a CASA Volunteer! Initial training is approximately 30 hours and includes four days of in-person classes, court observation at the Larimer County Justice Center, and online classwork.
Swearing-in
After completing your training, you'll attend a swearing-in ceremony at the Justice Center and be sworn in to service by the 8th Judicial District Court Chief Justice or Dependency and Neglect Magistrate. Families and friends are invited and welcomed to attend the swearing-in and celebrate your achievement!
Case assignment
Review open cases and work with your CASA Case Supervisor to find a case that's a good fit for you and the child(ren). Once you find an appropriate case, begin working as a CASA and advocating for your assigned child's best interests.
