What is CASA of Larimer County?

Help Change A Child’s Story

Creating Safe & Nurturing Connections For Kids To Thrive

CASA of Larimer County advocates for children who have experienced abuse and neglect, supporting connections and providing resources to promote resilience.

Through our three programs — Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Family Connections, and Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) — we provide support to children and families in  Larimer County to strengthen their connections to each other and this community.

CASA of Larimer County relies on our dedicated CASA volunteers to provide voice and advocacy for youth involved in Dependency and Neglect Court. These volunteers go through a rigorous screening and training program. After completing all requirements and being sworn in by the Court, the CASA Volunteer is appointed by the Judge to a child or group of siblings.

CASA Volunteers provide objective documentation for court regarding school and medical needs. They work with families to increase protective factors and community supports and they provide mentorship and consistency for the child throughout the case, on average 12-18 months.

If you’re interested in becoming a CASA volunteer, the first few steps to get started are:

  • You must be 21 years of age & pass all background checks
  • Submit an application
  • Complete an in-person interview

Once you’ve been accepted into our volunteer program, you’ll receive 30-40 hours of training before being assigned to a case.

CASA of Larimer County provides a unique service to allow children to maintain and build connections to family who they are not able to see independently.  Family Connections provides supervised visitations and safe custody exchanges for children in a safe and home-like setting.

The Family Connections Program provides a trauma-informed space for families to play, enjoy meals, and make lasting memories while our team provides objective documentation and support to ensure a safe and conflict-free environment.

Parents using our program can participate in the Nurturing Parenting Program that builds parenting skills and knowledge. The program strengthens family dynamics by teaching positive parenting skills foster safety and connection.
